Abstract:
The possibility of inhibiting metastases by preparations from plants growing in Siberia and Far East after removal of the tumor node was proven in experiments on animals with transplanted tumors. Plant preparations stimulated the antitumor resistance of the organism.
Insights
Plant extracts from Siberia and the Far East can inhibit cancer metastasis in animal models. These natural preparations enhance the body's natural defenses against tumors, offering a promising avenue for cancer research.
Area of Science:
- Oncology
- Pharmacognosy
- Immunology
Background:
- Metastasis remains a significant challenge in cancer treatment.
- Developing novel therapeutic strategies to prevent cancer spread is crucial.
- Traditional medicine often utilizes plant-derived compounds for therapeutic purposes.
Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate the potential of Siberian and Far Eastern plant preparations in inhibiting post-operative metastasis.
- To evaluate the impact of these plant preparations on the host's antitumor immunity.
Main Methods:
- Animal models with transplanted tumors were used.
- Tumor node removal was performed, followed by administration of plant preparations.
- Inhibition of metastases and stimulation of antitumor resistance were assessed.
Main Results:
- Plant preparations demonstrated the ability to inhibit metastases after tumor removal in experimental animals.
- The tested plant preparations effectively stimulated the organism's antitumor resistance.
Conclusions:
- Preparations derived from plants native to Siberia and the Far East show promise in preventing cancer metastasis.
- These findings suggest a potential role for phytotherapy in enhancing the body's immune response against cancer recurrence.

Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition
The epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition or EMT is a developmental process commonly observed in wound healing, embryogenesis, and cancer metastasis. EMT is induced by transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) or receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) ligands, which further...
