Repeated exercise treadmill tests can induce both early and late phases of ischemic preconditioning in patients with coronary artery disease. This "warm-up phenomenon" enhances the heart's adaptation to ischemia.

  • Twenty-five patients with stable coronary artery disease underwent four repeated exercise treadmill tests.
