Abstract:
This paper characterizes the present situation in public baths in the district of Leipzig from the aspects of civil engineering (building construction and water hygiene). Out of 59 existing baths, 8 are closed mainly for building construction reasons. 29 baths had considerable faults. Only 27 public baths have a work circulation plant. The poor building-technical situation has an important influence on the quality of the water, a fact illustrated by the high rates of contaminated and hence rejected water samples.
