Colombian medical students face challenges with electronic resources. A new information and communication technology (ICT) model improved handling of surgical data, showing positive acceptance in a pilot study.

Background:

Colombian medical students lack effective access to electronic facilities compared to international standards.
There is a need to improve the management of biomedical data within medical education.

Purpose of the Study:

To implement an information and communication technology (ICT) model for Colombian medical students.
To enhance the handling of surgical and biomedical data for improved patient care and education.

Main Methods:

A pilot study was conducted with undergraduate surgery students and faculty.
An ICT-based model was implemented to facilitate access to and management of biomedical data.

Main Results:

The implemented ICT model demonstrated good acceptance among participants.

The pilot suggests a viable approach for improving digital resource utilization in medical training.

Conclusions:

The ICT model shows promise in addressing the digital divide for Colombian medical students.
This approach can benefit patients, students, and the community by enhancing data management skills.
