Summary

Bladder cancer in pregnancy is rare but serious. Early diagnosis via ultrasonography and cystoscopy is crucial, as superficial tumors have good outcomes, while advanced cancers pose poor prognoses for mother and fetus.

Background:

Bladder cancer during pregnancy is uncommon.
This study reviews 3 cases and literature to assess tumor characteristics, maternal, and fetal outcomes.

Observation:

Hematuria was the primary symptom in 81% of cases, often mistaken for vaginal bleeding.
Ultrasonography identified tumors in only 50% of cases.
Superficial bladder tumors had good outcomes after transurethral resection.

Findings:

Transitional cell carcinoma was the most common type (74%).
Muscle-invasive bladder carcinoma presented a poor prognosis.
Fetal survival was limited to those delivered after 30 weeks gestation.
