[PTH and non-classical target organs--ligand-receptor interaction in end stage renal disease (ESRD)]

Abstract:
Secondary hyperparathyrodism and uremic symptoms have long been discussed for more than 2 decades. Its relevance may indicate PTH-receptor interaction in ESRD. Two human PTH receptors (PTH1R, PTH2R) are now identified and distributed in extrarenal and extraskeletal organs, such as nerve system, cardiovascular system and lung. These organ-related symptoms and complications may be related to elevated PTH levels in ESRD. PTH should be well-controlled within optimized levels to prevent irreversible serious complications.
