Abstract:
The management of GI fistulas can be very challenging for the health care team and the patient. The treatment goals are to provide bowel rest, prevent fluid and electrolyte imbalances, protect perifistula skin, and contain the effluent. Consistent nursing care and team collaboration can lead to successful patient outcomes.
