Summary

Transdermal carbon dioxide (CO2) therapy effectively improves chronic wound healing and reduces infection risk. This treatment enhanced granulation and decreased discharge in both chronic ulcers and acute surgical wounds.

  • To investigate the efficacy of transdermal CO2 application on chronic wound healing.
  • To compare the effects of CO2 on chronic ulcers versus acute surgical wounds.
  • To assess the safety and tolerability of transdermal CO2 therapy.

  • Retrospective study involving 86 patients with chronic wounds and 17 with acute surgical wounds.
  • Treatment administered using a Carboflow device for 30-60 minutes daily.
