Abstract:
The author investigates by means of the GBS scale the influence of a new environment in old age pensioners homes on the adaptation process of old people and draws attention to the problem of adaptation during the first six months after admission to the home. He tries to prove the essential length of time needed for adaptation. The author deals also with dynamic changes on mental manifestations of old people during the first six months in the old age pensioners home and those spheres of the psyche where the most marked variations occur. He follows up factors which participate in the process of adaptation and deals with the problem whether life in an old age pensioners home in an advantage for old people and a solution of the problem of old age. He tries to create a simple method of investigation of the adaptation process which can be used in common practice.
