Area of Science:

  • Neurosurgery
  • Medical Technology
  • Oncology

Background:

  • Advances in neuro-imaging enable earlier detection of small, deep-seated brain tumors.
  • Conventional neurosurgical techniques may be inadequate for treating these challenging lesions.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To describe the preliminary experience with a prototype neuro-endoscope.
  • To evaluate its utility in stereotactic laser tumor resection.

Main Methods:

  • Utilized a prototype neuro-endoscope for tumor resection.
  • Performed stereotactic laser tumor resection procedures.

Main Results:

  • The prototype neuro-endoscope was successfully employed.
  • Preliminary data on its technical characteristics and application in tumor resection were gathered.

Conclusions:

  • The neuro-endoscope shows promise as a tool for minimally invasive treatment of deep-seated brain tumors.
  • Further investigation is warranted to establish its efficacy and safety.
