Area of Science:

  • Neurology
  • Oncology
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Neurolymphomatosis (NL) involves lymphoma infiltrating the peripheral nervous system.
  • Diagnosis often requires invasive procedures to confirm nerve involvement.

Observation:

  • A case of neurolymphomatosis in a 49-year-old female presenting with limb weakness is described.
  • Sural nerve biopsy was performed for diagnostic confirmation.

Findings:

  • Histochemical and immunohistochemistry staining of the sural nerve biopsy identified numerous T-lymphoma cells.
  • Lymphoma cells infiltrated the epineurium's adipose tissue, causing marked axonal degeneration of myelinated nerve fibers.

Implications:

  • Sural nerve biopsy is a valuable diagnostic tool for neurolymphomatosis.
