Abstract:
Osteoblast is a specialized cell that forms bone tissue. The process of bone formation by osteoblasts is divided into several steps such as differentiation of cells, secretion of matrix proteins, mineralization of osteoid, and bone coupling. Although each step supposed to be controlled by various factors, the regulatory mechanisms of bone formation is unclear. Recently, a central control system of bone formation was identified. These findings will be useful to develop novel bone-forming drugs.
