[Membranous nephropathy and crescentic glomerulonephritis].

Summary

A rare case of nephrotic syndrome and acute renal failure in a young woman was caused by combined membranous nephropathy and crescentic glomerulonephritis. Treatment with steroids and cyclophosphamide stabilized her kidney function.

Background:

Glomerular diseases commonly present with nephrotic syndrome or acute renal failure.
Causes include acute tubular necrosis, renal vein thrombosis, and tubulointerstitial nephritis.
Primary glomerular diseases combined with crescentic glomerulonephritis infrequently cause this clinical picture.

Observation:

A young woman without systemic disease presented with nephrotic syndrome and acute renal failure.
Her condition was secondary to membranous nephropathy with superimposed crescentic glomerulonephritis.

Findings:

The patient received immunosuppressive therapy with steroids and cyclophosphamide.
Renal function stabilized after two months of follow-up.
