- A 66-year-old male presented with chronic voiding obstructive symptoms, initially diagnosed as prostatic enlargement or bladder tumor.
Findings:
- Surgical exploration revealed a well-circumscribed mass at the bladder neck.
- Pathological examination confirmed the mass as a bladder leiomyoma.
- The patient experienced an uneventful recovery with symptom resolution and no recurrence.
Implications:
- Bladder leiomyomas, though rare, should be considered in the differential diagnosis of bladder outlet obstruction, especially in older males.
- Accurate diagnosis requires a combination of imaging and, ideally, cystoscopy.
- Surgical management can be effective for symptomatic bladder leiomyomas.
