Summary

Interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1alpha) levels are elevated in corneal scars, particularly with early-stage neovascularization. This suggests IL-1alpha promotes blood vessel growth in scars, though graft rejection risk increases with vascularization regardless of IL-1alpha levels.
