Summary

C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP) is essential for normal bone formation. Chop null mice show reduced bone formation and impaired osteoblastic function, highlighting CHOP's role in maintaining the osteoblastic phenotype in vivo.

Background:

  • C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP) is known to inhibit adipogenesis and promote osteoblastogenesis in vitro.
