Multiple spinal hemangiomas, benign tumors, were incidentally discovered in a middle-aged man. This extensive vertebral involvement from C2 to S1 is unprecedented in medical literature.

Area of Science:

  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • Radiology

Background:

  • Spinal hemangiomas are common, benign, slow-growing tumors affecting bone and soft tissue.
  • While typically asymptomatic, spinal hemangiomas can present with pain or neurological deficits.

Observation:

  • A case of a middle-aged Indian male with multiple, contiguous hemangiomas involving nearly all vertebrae (C2-S1) is presented.
  • These lesions were incidentally found during magnetic resonance imaging for backache.

Findings:

  • The extensive, contiguous nature of these spinal hemangiomas across multiple vertebral levels (C2-S1) is a unique finding.
  • This case represents an exceptionally widespread presentation of vertebral hemangiomas.

Implications:

Related Experiment Videos

  • Highlights the potential for extensive and contiguous spinal involvement by hemangiomas.
  • Suggests the importance of thorough spinal evaluation in cases of suspected widespread vertebral lesions.
