Summary

Churg-Strauss syndrome, a vasculitis causing asthma and eosinophilia, was diagnosed in two patients. Oral corticosteroids effectively treated their worsening symptoms and radiographic lesions.

Clinicopathological and Prognostic Features of 67 Cases with Pulmonary Sarcomatoid Carcinoma: An 18-Year Single-Centre Experience.

Background:

  • Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) is a rare necrotizing vasculitis.
  • CSS involves multiple organs and is characterized by asthma, eosinophilia, and granulomas.

Observation:

  • Two patients, a 35-year-old male and a 43-year-old female, presented with worsening asthma.
  • Both patients exhibited clinical deterioration and chest radiograph abnormalities.

Findings:

  • Diagnosis of Churg-Strauss syndrome was confirmed in both cases.
  • Patients showed significant clinical and radiological improvement after oral corticosteroid treatment.

Implications:

  • Highlights the importance of recognizing CSS in patients with refractory asthma and eosinophilia.
