Enhancing relationships: peer teams and mental health professionals
1Portland Police Bureau, USA. DCKelley911@comcast.net
Abstract:
Employee Assistance Programs and Medical Benefits Plans can provide peer teams and organizations access to a large number of mental health professionals. Although the peer team and the organization may have a limited number of mental health professionals whom they prefer to utilize exclusively, there may be a need for additional mental health resources in certain instances. This article discusses developing relationships between mental health providers and peer teams. A case study is presented that describes a process that allows teams to enhance and integrate the full resources and services of mental health providers and/or Employee Assistance Programs available to them.
