[The research on maxillofacial soft tissue reconstruction by 3-D laser scanning]

Purpose:
To evaluate the role of 3-D laser scanning on reconstruction of maxillofacial soft tissues.
Methods:
3-D laser scan was given to a patient who had his right ear absent and reconstruct the image.
Results:
3-D laser scanning can reconstruct facial soft tissue quickly and precisely, but the image of the ear was not very clear.
Conclusion:
In the living, laser scanning can reconstruct all the maxillofacial soft tissues except for the ear. It can be widely used in clinic and research.
