Retinoid X receptor (RXR)-selective retinoids directly suppress thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) secretion and TSHbeta mRNA levels. These rexinoids impact the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis by affecting thyrotropes and deiodinase activity.
