Effect of amylin on prolactin release

Amylin administration, both centrally and peripherally, significantly inhibits prolactin (PRL) release in rats. This peptide also suppressed PRL release in pituitary cell cultures, indicating a direct effect.

- These findings suggest amylin has a suppressive role in prolactin secretion.
