Summary

Metastatic orbital angiosarcoma in a 61-year-old woman showed partial response to chemotherapy (paclitaxel, doxorubicin, ifosfamide) and radiotherapy. While not curative, chemotherapy offered palliative benefit and extended survival compared to a similar case.

Background:

Metastatic angiosarcoma of the orbit is a rare and aggressive malignancy.
Optimal treatment strategies for orbital angiosarcoma remain challenging.

Observation:

A 61-year-old woman presented with metastatic angiosarcoma in the left orbit.
Diagnosis was histologically confirmed with special markers via incisional orbital biopsy.

Findings:

The patient received multi-agent chemotherapy (paclitaxel, doxorubicin, ifosfamide) and adjuvant radiotherapy.
Chemotherapy resulted in tumor mass reduction, indicating a palliative response.
Disease progression occurred after cessation of chemotherapy, ultimately leading to mortality.

Chemotherapy may serve as a palliative adjunct in managing metastatic orbital angiosarcoma.
While unlikely to be curative, chemotherapy can be a useful addition to surgery and radiation therapy.
This case contributes to understanding treatment outcomes in rare orbital malignancies.
