Peripheral ameloblastic fibroma is a rare dental lesion. This case report details a successful excision in a 5-year-old girl with no recurrence after one year.

Area of Science:

  • Oral pathology
  • Pediatric dentistry
  • Odontogenic tumors

Background:

  • Peripheral ameloblastic fibroma is an exceedingly rare odontogenic tumor.
  • Previous reports are limited, with only three cases documented, primarily in Japanese literature.

Observation:

  • A case of peripheral ameloblastic fibroma in a 5-year-old girl is presented.
  • Microscopic examination was crucial for differential diagnosis.
  • The lesion presented peripherally, distinct from central jaw lesions.

Findings:

  • The diagnosis of peripheral ameloblastic fibroma was confirmed histopathologically.
  • Surgical excision was the chosen treatment modality.
  • No recurrence was observed one year post-excision.

Implications:

  • This report adds to the scarce literature on peripheral ameloblastic fibroma.
  • Highlights the importance of accurate microscopic diagnosis for rare oral lesions.
  • Demonstrates the efficacy of surgical excision for peripheral ameloblastic fibroma in pediatric patients.
