Area of Science:

  • Dermatopathology
  • Oncology
  • Neoplastic Diseases

Background:

  • Apocrine hidradenoma is a benign neoplasm originating from sweat glands.
  • A pigmented variant of apocrine hidradenoma exists, though less common.
  • These tumors typically affect middle-aged individuals and lack specific site predilection.

Observation:

  • A 92-year-old male presented with a slow-growing, asymptomatic lesion on the right groin.
  • The lesion had been present for two years.
  • Clinical presentation suggested a neoplastic process requiring further investigation.

Findings:

  • Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of pigmented apocrine hidradenoma.
  • The tumor exhibited characteristic features of apocrine differentiation with melanin pigmentation.
