Summary

Light curing orthodontic primers before contamination with blood or saliva significantly enhances bracket bond strength. Clinicians should light cure primers immediately after application to minimize contamination effects.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the impact of light curing orthodontic primers before contamination on Transbond XT with MIP and Assure shear bond strength.
  • To compare bond strengths under dry, blood, and saliva contamination conditions with and without pre-curing.

Main Methods:

  • 180 human premolars were divided into 12 groups.
  • Metal brackets were bonded under five enamel conditions: dry, blood, or saliva contamination, with or without primer light curing before contamination.
  • Shear bond strength was measured for Transbond XT with MIP and Assure adhesives.
