Summary

Thyroid 24-hour radioactive iodine uptake (RAIU) values help differentiate hyperthyroidism. A 23% RAIU is the optimal upper limit for normal uptake, but a lower limit is difficult to establish due to overlapping values in euthyroid and hypothyroid patients.
