[Analysis of mortality in perforated gastroduodenal ulcers]
Abstract:
Lethality from ruptured gastroduodenal ulcers in the Smolensk region in the period from 1976 till 1988 was analyzed. Operations were performed on 2222 patients, 76 of them died (3.42%). Reducing lethality should be based on timely planned operations for ulcer disease, prophylactics of ulcer formation, refuse of self-treatment, improvement of the professional level of workers of the first medical aid service and surgeons of primary links of public health, especially in questions of operative tactics, pre- and postoperative management of the patients.
