  • Educational Technology

Background:

  • Problem-based learning (PBL) curricula present unique management challenges due to their interdisciplinary nature and reliance on diverse facilitators.
  • Effectively coordinating learning issues, faculty, and resources across multiple disciplines within a PBL framework requires robust organizational tools.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To adapt an interactive computer program for managing a problem-based dental curriculum.
  • To develop an electronic database system for a five-year PBL dental program.

Main Methods:

  • Utilized commercial database software (CATs - Curriculum Analysis Tools) to build an electronic database.
  • Inputted comprehensive data for each problem case, including competencies, learning objectives, faculty, and contact hours.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Generated various reports: curriculum overview, competency, keyword, manpower, and clock-hour reports at multiple levels.
