Abstract:
This qualitative descriptive study explored nurse faculty experiences of student incivility in online teaching environments. Data were collected from a purposive sample at a private institution utilizing an electronic questionnaire. Demographic information and two open-ended questions were included, with 17 faculty completing the questionnaire. Results highlighted key themes, including promoting a civil environment and implementing real-time techniques to maintain a civil environment. Subthemes were compared with Watson's Ten Caritas Processes. The findings suggest interventions for promoting a civil online learning environment and provide valuable insights on maintaining civility in online education.
