Abstract:
Antibiotics have been used to treat various infectious since the second world war. Despite a thorough knowledge of the antimicrobial pharmacology, clinicians have less guidelines concerning duration of antibiotherapy. When assessing the length of time an infection should be treated, the physician must consider the following criteria: the antibiotics, the involved organisms and their susceptibility patterns, the infected site and the host.
