Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Internal Medicine
Context:
- Acute coronary syndromes (ACS) represent a spectrum of clinical presentations requiring prompt medical attention.
- Current guidelines emphasize rapid assessment and management to improve patient survival and reduce long-term morbidity.
Purpose:
- To present a comprehensive overview of contemporary strategies for diagnosing and managing acute coronary syndromes.
- To highlight key aspects of risk stratification and the timing of interventional therapies in ACS management.
Summary:
- The review focuses on the essential elements of ACS care, including early diagnostic methods and risk assessment tools.
- It discusses therapeutic interventions and secondary prevention strategies crucial for post-ACS recovery.
- The authors prioritize the clinical application of established protocols over an exhaustive review of recent studies.
Impact:
- Provides clinicians with an up-to-date summary of ACS management principles.
- Aims to standardize and improve the quality of care for patients with acute coronary syndromes.
- Facilitates informed decision-making regarding interventional therapy timing and secondary prevention protocols.
Abstract:
The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive actual overview of the current approach to acute coronary syndromes diagnostics, therapeutics and secondary prevention. Authors stress early diagnosis, risk stratification, indication and timing of interventional therapy. It is not an intention to provide detailed description of all clinical studies implemented recently in the field of acute coronary syndromes.
