Aortic valve-sparing operations: early and midterm results.

Purpose of the Study:

• To evaluate the early and midterm outcomes of aortic valve-sparing operations.
• To assess the efficacy of the Gelweave Valsalva graft in reproducing aortic root anatomy.

Main Methods:

• A retrospective review of 85 patients undergoing aortic valve-sparing operations between July 2001 and August 2004.
• The David I reimplantation technique was used for 65 patients with aortic root aneurysms, with 57 receiving a Gelweave Valsalva graft.
• Twenty patients with ascending aortic aneurysms underwent ascending aorta replacement with sinotubular junction reduction.
