Two novel C(19)-diterpenoid alkaloids, piepunensine A and 18-acetylcammaconine, were identified in Aconitum piepunense roots. Their structures were confirmed using advanced spectroscopic methods, contributing to the understanding of plant-derived compounds.
Area of Science:
- Natural Product Chemistry
- Phytochemistry
- Organic Chemistry
Background:
- Aconitum species are a rich source of bioactive alkaloids.
- Diterpenoid alkaloids possess diverse pharmacological properties.
- Understanding the chemical constituents of Aconitum piepunense is ongoing.
Purpose of the Study:
- To isolate and characterize new alkaloids from Aconitum piepunense roots.
- To elucidate the structures of novel compounds using spectroscopic techniques.
- To contribute to the knowledge of Aconitum alkaloid diversity.
Main Methods:
- Isolation of alkaloids from Aconitum piepunense root extract.
- Structure elucidation using 1D and 2D Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
- High-resolution Mass Spectrometry (HR-MS) for molecular formula determination.
Main Results:
- Two new C(19)-diterpenoid alkaloids, piepunensine A (1) and 18-acetylcammaconine (2), were isolated.
- Five known alkaloids (pengshenine B (3), talatisamine (4), aconosine (5), yunaconitine (6), and talatizidine (7)) were also identified.
- The structures of the new alkaloids were definitively established through comprehensive spectral analysis.
Conclusions:
- The study successfully identified and characterized two novel diterpenoid alkaloids from Aconitum piepunense.
- The findings expand the known chemical profile of this Aconitum species.
- This research provides valuable data for further investigations into the bioactivity of these compounds.
