Background:

  • Silver nanoparticles can aggregate to form various nanostructures.
  • Understanding the precise morphology of nanomaterials is crucial for their applications.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze the detailed structure of silver nanoprisms synthesized via photoinduced aggregation.
  • To investigate the presence and nature of structural deformations in these nanoprisms.

Main Methods:

  • Detailed electron microscopy (TEM) analysis.
  • Bright and dark field imaging techniques.
  • Objective aperture shifting for selective imaging of diffraction spots.
  • High-resolution imaging to observe lattice changes.

Main Results:

  • Direct evidence of (111) face bending in silver nanoprisms through TEM.
  • Observation of bending contours in both bright and dark field images.
  • Confirmation of bent structure via lateral side imaging and lattice constant variations.

Conclusions:

  • Silver nanoprisms synthesized by controlled photoinduced aggregation possess a bent structure.
  • Electron microscopy, particularly TEM with diffraction analysis, is effective in revealing nanoscale structural details.
  • The findings provide insights into the structural characteristics of silver nanoprisms, relevant for nanomaterial science.
