Pouchitis in ulcerative colitis: correlation between predictors from colectomy specimens and clinico-histological

Histological findings like appendicitis or fissures in colectomy specimens do not predict pouchitis development after ulcerative colitis surgery. Clinical symptoms often do not correlate with actual pouch inflammation.
