[Health education as a nursing intervention strategy for diabetes bearers]

Abstract:
A descriptive study with the objective of analyzing an educational process as a nursing intervention strategy for diabetic persons approaching the Problematization Methodology assumptions and Paulo Freire's theoretical references on freedom of education. Nineteen Diabetes bearers from the town of Nova Aurora, State of Goiás, Brazil, participated in the study over a 4-month period. The results evidenced that the dialogic educational activity was capable of contributing towards awakening the reflective, critical and creative potential of the group, presenting itself as an important intervention strategy for the nurse who works from the perspective of contributing for the patients' emancipation.
