  • A 60-year-old male presented with an incidentally detected left frontal mass.
  • Computed tomography showed homogeneous high density; MRI revealed T1 hyperintensity, T2 isointensity, and diffusion restriction.
  • No contrast enhancement was observed on T1-weighted MRI, and angiography showed an avascular area.

Findings:

  • Surgical resection of the left frontal lesion was successful.
  • Histopathological, immunohistochemical, and electron microscopy analyses confirmed the diagnosis of a colloid cyst.

Implications:

  • This case underscores the importance of comprehensive imaging in diagnosing colloid cysts, even when presenting atypically in the frontal lobe.
  • The characteristic imaging findings, despite the unusual location, aided in the definitive diagnosis and surgical planning.
  • Complete surgical removal offers a favorable prognosis for patients with colloid cysts.
