Summary

Phleboliths, calcifications in veins, are rarely seen on mammograms. This case highlights phleboliths found adjacent to a venous aneurysm, an unusual finding on breast imaging.

Area of Science:

  • Radiology
  • Vascular Imaging
  • Breast Imaging

Background:

  • Phleboliths are common incidental findings on pelvic radiographs.
  • Detection of phleboliths on mammography is exceptionally rare, posing a diagnostic challenge.

Observation:

  • A case report detailing the incidental detection of phleboliths during mammography.
  • The phleboliths were observed in close proximity to a venous aneurysm.

Findings:

  • Mammography can visualize phleboliths, though infrequently.
  • The presence of phleboliths adjacent to a venous aneurysm is a rare radiological finding.

Implications:

  • Radiologists should be aware of the possibility of phleboliths on mammograms, especially in cases with vascular abnormalities.
