Summary

Glial cells, such as astrocytes, influence synapse development differently across neuron types in the central nervous system (CNS). Their signals promote synapse formation in retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) but enhance excitatory synapse efficacy in hippocampal and cerebellar neurons.
