Summary

Angiosarcoma rarely arises from schwannomas. This case details the first intracranial angiosarcoma originating from a vestibular schwannoma remnant, highlighting a rare oncological event.

Background:

Angiosarcomas are rare malignant vascular tumors.
Schwannomas are typically benign nerve sheath tumors.

Observation:

A 66-year-old man developed an angiosarcoma from a prior vestibular schwannoma remnant.
The tumor was partially resected but recurred.
The patient succumbed to complications including a cerebellar abscess.

Findings:

Histological and immunohistochemical analysis confirmed angiosarcoma with CD34 and S-100 positivity.
This represents the first reported case of intracranial angiosarcoma arising from a schwannoma.

Implications:

This case expands the known spectrum of schwannoma-associated malignancies.
