Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the significance of serial serum PSA levels in predicting treatment failure after primary irradiation for prostate cancer.
  • To determine if PSA trends can identify patients at risk for distant metastases.

  • A cohort of 43 patients with adenocarcinoma of the prostate underwent serial PSA measurements before and after definitive radiation therapy.
  • Patients were staged (T0d, T1, T2, T3) and categorized into high, intermediate, or low risk groups based on PSA values and trends.
