Peripheral venous catheter-related inflammation (PVCRI) risk increases after the first day. Prolonging catheter duration to 96 hours showed no difference in PVCRI compared to 72 hours, suggesting individualized duration is key.

- Catheter duration beyond 72 hours up to 96 hours did not increase PVCRI risk.
- The risk of PVCRI appears to escalate from the first day to the third day of catheterization.
- Tailoring PVC duration to individual patient risk factors may offer a more cost-effective approach to preventing PVCRI.
