Abstract:
Several papers describing results of new drugs or new formulas for administration of drugs for osteoporosis were presented at the annual meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR). For example, quarterly or yearly intravenous administration and monthly oral dosage were shown to be effective for certain bisphosphonates. Inhibitors for cathepsin K was also reported to increase bone mineral density. In addition, some promising drugs are under development. There will be more alternatives for the treatment of osteoporosis in the future.
