Summary

Pituitary abscess is a rare sellar mass. Prompt diagnosis and treatment with antibiotics and surgical drainage are crucial for a better prognosis in patients presenting with chronic headaches.

  • The initial diagnosis considered was pituitary apoplexy.

Findings:

  • The patient was diagnosed with a pituitary abscess.
  • The presentation mimicked pituitary apoplexy, highlighting diagnostic challenges.

Implications:

  • Pituitary abscess should be considered in the differential diagnosis of sellar masses, especially with chronic headache.
  • Early identification and appropriate management are vital for patient outcomes.
