Utilized Walker and Avant's 8-step method of concept analysis.
Reviewed healthcare and non-healthcare literature to identify patterns and attributes of interruptions.

Identified 5 defining attributes of interruption: human experience, intrusion of a secondary task, discontinuity, initiation source (external/internal), and context-situated nature.
Proposed a conceptual model for interruption based on these attributes.

Conclusions:

The 5 identified attributes provide a robust definition for interruption.
