  • To investigate and compare three biological methods for sludge reduction: aerobic digestion, anaerobic digestion, and predation by Tubifex tubifex.
  • To evaluate the synergistic effects of combining T. tubifex predation with anaerobic digestion.

  • Investigated aerobic digestion, anaerobic digestion, and T. tubifex predation as individual sludge reduction methods.
  • Assessed the combined effect of T. tubifex predation followed by anaerobic digestion.
  • Measured sludge reduction rates at a sludge concentration of 2500 mg/L.

  • Combining T. tubifex predation with anaerobic digestion significantly improves sludge reduction efficiency.
  • The duration of T. tubifex predation needs adjustment based on initial sludge concentration.
