Background:

  • Clear cell papulosis is a rare pediatric skin condition, first described in 1987.
  • Previously reported cases predominantly involved children of Asian descent.

Observation:

  • This study presents three cases of clear cell papulosis in Hispanic children in the United States.
  • Patients exhibited multiple grouped, oval, hypopigmented macules and flat papules on the suprapubic area and trunk.

Findings:

  • Histopathologic examination confirmed the presence of characteristic clear cells in the basal and Malpighian layers of the epidermis.
  • These clear cells share histologic and immunohistochemical similarities with Paget cells and Toker clear cells.

Implications:

  • Clear cell papulosis appears to affect diverse ethnic groups.
  • The natural history remains unknown, necessitating ongoing surveillance for potential development of extramammary Paget disease.
