Abstract:
With the expected increase in extended-length space exploration missions and the establishment of permanent space stations, there is an increased chance of cutaneous injury occurring in astronauts due to trauma or unexpected emergency surgery. Will these wounds heal properly in space? This question remains unanswered. Several basic areas of the wound healing process need to be investigated through controlled scientific studies on spaceflights.
