Glucocorticoid-induced tumor necrosis factor receptor (GITR) and its ligand (GITRL) expression is elevated in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. This increased GITR/GITRL expression correlates with disease severity, suggesting a role in RA pathogenesis.
